One thing I love about the Slabs is that things are always different when we return every winter. But in this case, I didn’t love what I saw.
What a disappointment to see the damage done to these ingeniously painted tanks near Salvation Mountain:
Much of the amazing art has been covered up by another “artist.”
While I can appreciate unusual, one-of-a-kind graffiti art, this crap is just blight. More of the same stuff that we see everywhere else. B O R I N G
I’d much rather see this, wouldn’t you?
For better or worse, nothing stays the same in Slab City.
How sad someone painted over that! Although it’s not what I would want on my livingroom walls, it did have a kind of unique “Slab-ness” to the artwork when we toured over by the tanks!

Oh I know isn’t it crazy Karen? The previous art is definitely pure Slab City! The new graffiti, not so much.
Too bad, I too prefer the original artwork.
Did you go to the reopening of the library?
Thanks for the updates….
I do too Kelly. No, didn’t go to the opening, we missed it. But I’m waiting to hear from some folks who did, will keep you posted!
