Falling Into Our Life After Camp Hosting (Almost)

We did it. Survived the summer workamping camp hosting gig with most of our sanity intact and some new RVing friends too. But, just as we were about to resume those old familiar workaholic habits of ours, the Universe decided to toss a catastrophic health crisis our way to keep us on our toes.

Both of us had to sacrifice writing here because we were so short on time over summer. Something had to give and this blog was the sacrifice.

But with the camp hosting gig behind us and a raw reminder that life is indeed too short, it’s nice to return to this old familiar electronic home to take stock of things.

Over the next few months we have lots to say about camp hosting and what we learned after four months of trading our time for free rent and great weather in a world class destination. It wasn’t all bad, either! Maybe you’ll want to give workamping a whirl too.

Beyond the summer gig there will be even more for us to process, thanks to a health crisis that nobody could ever predict. As we navigate the tricky nature of balancing our current work to pay the astronomical medical bills from this jacked up healthcare (sick-care) profit-driven broken medical system in America, our goal is to carve out enough time in the week to plan our next big pivot in life.

Because after the dramatic events of September, I can feel change coming on like a runaway train,

After all, there’s no better way to light a fire under your butt and kick your dreams into high gear, than an ambulance ride and a meet-and-greet with an interventional radiologist. But that’s a story for another day, maybe.

  2. Wow, a health crisis surprise is no joke. I hope the crisis has passed and healing is happening. The health care system is indeed stacked against the everyday person and getting worse. Im sorry you got caught up in that mess.
Take care and keep us in the loop.

    • Aww thanks Patti! Yep it’s been over a decade since we had to deal with the medical system. The folks who provide the care are pretty great, it’s the greedy profit driven companies that make it suck. We’ll tell you all about it over happy hour next time we meet up! You take care yourself.
