The current shitshow in this country that has all of us reeling leaves me at a loss to adequately express my thoughts. I call myself a writer, yet I don’t know how to intelligently convey the anger and grief I feel every time I reluctantly peek at the NPR news feed.
Feeling uninspired to even try to tackle this topic, I still feel obliged to acknowledge this era in our nearly 20-year old blog that started on March 22, 2007. I didn’t feel like writing this week, but then inspiration hit tonight. I happened to stumble into a genius George Carlin clip that precisely explains everything I’m feeling right now.
Ironically, this clip is 20 years old but ol’ George could have performed it today.
The Truth About the American Dream
It’s too bad none of us took this as seriously as we should have in 2005.
And now I’m wondering, how the hell did YouTube know how I was feeling?
The answer? That’s easy. It’s called Surveillance Capitalism. Duh.
I hear you. We are grateful to be in Canada right now while simultaneously wishing we could be doing more from afar. This is such a challenging time.
I am feeling pretty frustrated and powerless every time I look at the news. We are still in Mexico and not thrilled to be going back home next month . The video could have been produced today!!
Patti I’ve been thinking of you and Jim and wondering how you were feeling about returning. Who wouldda thought that so many changes would happen in the short time you’ve been away? I’m feeling the same way. But I heard a great quote yesterday by Nanci Pelosi: don’t just be outraged, get organized! I’m going to have to try that.
I know I want to get involved when I get home. This helpless feeling has to go!!
We have just over a week left in Mexico now. It has been so fun. The Mexican people are amazing and get a bad rap in US.
👍🏻 Rene hasn’t had a good rant like this since 2007. But she should stop shoulding on herself.
100% spot on. Thanks for posting. As futile as it seems all we can do is resist and hope things change in the midterm elections.
Appreciate it Bill. You keep up the resistance too!
