A few weeks ago I made this “Happy New Year” greeting card, and couldn’t believe how much we actually did in 2025.
Considering that we juggled camp hosting along with business and family obligations, marathon training, a skyrocketing cost of living, and oh, a pulmonary embolism too, it feels miraculous that Jim and I stayed sane through it all. Well, mostly sane.
On the eve of a new year, I’m trying to stay hopeful that 2026 will be better than 2025, but let’s be real.
The greedy politicians in charge of our country aren’t going anywhere for a while, and the high cost of living they’re responsible for creating isn’t going away either. Life will continue to be insanely expensive. And about the only thing I can change is my attitude about the situation.
Oh, and I can also consider applying for another workamping job to save money.
No, it’s not going to be camp hosting, which took too much time from our business. But I might consider a short-term volunteer gig with fewer hours. Anything is possible!
