Don’t worry, we’re still here. But we’ve been wondering: Where is everybody?

Don’t get me wrong, Rene and I are totally enjoying finding solace at the tubs. It’s totally nice not fighting the crowds or coping with crying kids running around while trying to enjoy a peaceful soak. That’s totally enough “totally” for now, but total solitude is pretty rare here at the Fountain of Youth this time of year.

It’s cool not having to fight for a space to stretch in the gym. But we also enjoy meeting new people. And there’s not much gossip to be heard lately in the Gossip Spa.

We have our own theories for why there are so many empty spots this year. It could be that Canadians are steering clear of the current conversion rate. Or the current administration. Or maybe they just prefer the long-term deals we all used to get when staying the full season at FOY.

Thank goodness our favorite neighbors are here to keep us company on those rare occasions we get out and away from our computers. But then you may ask, where have you been Jim? Well, if you checked our maps recently you may have wondered what we’ve been doing in Raton since November. Nothing, that was just the last time I updated the map apparently.

Eighteen plus years on the road and we have every single route and stop documented. I finally noticed my neglect upon arrival by not updating the latest map. That’s when I discovered I couldn’t log into our uMap account! Thank more goodness for the community of users who helped me hack a workaround. No need for gory details here, but here is one way to restore uMap maps if you ever get locked out.

And there you go, I just digressed, didn’t I? Haven’t heard that in a while have ya? Yeah, yeah, so long time no blog. But there was that whole embolism thing. And then all that new podcast work. But aside from making excuses, there’s something about a near death experience will put your priorities in proper order.

So, we’re making the most of the next few months here at FOY. And we’ll be taking the M for our first foiré into Mexico. Yeah, in all this time we’ve never headed south of the border in the rig. No trailer though, this will be a quick camp out to connect with what’s left of the Xscapers. But that’s another story.
