Hitting the road to go full-tiime RVing is a big decision but it’s amazing how many people do it without carefully asking themselves, “How am I going to support myself?”
Far too often new full-time RVers start traveling only to find themselves in a financial bind a few months later because they didn’t think the income part through.
Anyone can afford to live this lifestyle and you don’t have to have a fat wallet to do it, but sustaining yourself on the road and hopefully saving for a rainy day takes more creativity and discipline than the default lifestyle. Having multiple sources of income, aka “revenue streams” is crucial. We discuss generating income anywhere in our business blog, but for now, I just want to bring a handy new book to your attention so you can add it to your tool of ways to make money as a full-time RVer.
How to Create a Blog You Can Turn Into Cash
Full-time RVers make money all sorts of ways, including blogging. It’s not an instant way to bring in money but it’s something that anyone of any age and physical ability can do.
Joshua Couch is one young full-time RVer who knows: he’s written a new book that explains the basics about creating a blog you can sell, called “How to Create a Blog You Can Convert Into Cash.”
So you want to sell a blog? In my second year of blogging I sold my blog for almost $5,800 after only eighteen months work . . . My aim is to help as many people as I can to realize their own dreams of quitting their jobs and building their own online businesses.
Joshua is an online friend of ours who Tweets and blogs about his travels and promotes the Truck Camper Lifestyle. Recently I had a chance to read a complimentary copy of his book and found it to be full of nuts and bolts information about building and creating a blog someone will want to buy. And if anyone knows about this topic, he does; Joshua sold his blog JeepPorn.com, for $5800 in just 18 months!
Here’s what it covers:
- Choosing an interesting and lucrative topic that rocks your world
- Blog set-up basics
- Creating valuable content
- Building a presence on social media
- Advertising
- E-book publishing
- Blog analytics and valuation
- When to look for potential buyers and how to attract them to your blog so they’ll want to buy it via websites like Flippa.com.
There’s a ton of helpful information jam packed into just 15 pages. Before reading I had my doubts about the little book’s ability to cover these topics with enough useful information, but Josh pulled it off! He’s written in it a straightforward, understandable format that any blogging novice can grasp. The material strikes a good balance between offering the right amount of information for new bloggers so that it’s not overwhelming, to passing along enough valuable nuggets that readers will be enticed into learning more elsewhere.
The only drawbacks: the book could include more links to various resources and the layout could be a little more visually exciting. Otherwise, it’s a fast, informative read that’s well worth the $2.99 price.
